The STL Veterans Home Assistance League is a non-profit organization established for the enrichment and betterment of the lives of the veterans residing in the St. Louis Veterans Home. Feeding America helped provide 6.6 billion meals to millions of people in need last year through a network of food banks, statewide food bank associations, partner agencies, food pantries and meal programs. Feeding America also supports programs that prevent food waste, improve food security, bring attention to the social and systemic barriers that contribute to food insecurity, and advocate for legislation that protects people from going hungry. The Assistance League is funded by generous donations from friends, relatives, corporations, and organizations who care deeply about our veterans. Help plan and execute recreational and therapeutic activities for Veterans in the Home. As a Therapeutic Services Worker, you will aid in making detailed preparations for and carry out planned activities in recreational, occupational, physical, music, and related therapy areas. You will learn activity techniques and their therapeutic applications as a means of developing the Veterans’ social skills, responsibility, and initiative, as well as their ability to cope with problems, gain self-satisfaction and adapt to real situations. This position will provide Veterans with the resources, support, and services necessary to provide recreational and therapeutic activities and leisure education appropriate to their physical and cognitive ability.

The key to MOVE-STL's success begins with Veterans living among their peers in a secure and sober environment with on-site counseling services available 24/7. Louis accepted its first resident on October 31, 1993 and has been serving those who served ever since. Satisfied with those recommendations, a meeting was held with Mr. Richard “Dick” Rice who was then the Director of Public Safety for the State of Missouri and members of his and Governor Ashcroft’s staff.

When a Veteran comes in for an assessment at intake, we ask about their cultural considerations to ensure we are serving that individual Veteran to the best of our capabilities. We build community partnerships with those organizations and individuals that also work toward the same goal for the greater St. Louis area. Missouri Veterans Endeavor (MOVE-STL) is a community for Veterans experiencing homelessness and their families.

It meets any licensing or certification standards et forth by the jurisdiction where it is located. A skilled nursing facility may be a freestanding facility or part of a hospital that has been certified by Medicare to admit patients requiring subacute care and rehabilitation. The Missouri Veterans Home, located in St. Louis, MO, provides support for veterans of the US Armed Forces.
The local citizens that make up the Assistance League are all volunteers, who spend their time fundraising to help the nation’s finest enjoy a wonderful quality of life. The Veterans Home, in conjunction with the STLVHAL, are here to serve those who have served. “Between Missouri and Illinois, you have close to 1,200 known homeless veterans. Each tiny house provides everything a Veteran needs to live with dignity and security; new furniture, appliances, housewares, bedding, personal items, and utilities - all free of charge.

The St. Louis Veterans Home is a nursing care facility used solely for those who have served in the United States military. The STL Veterans Home Assistance League, referred to as the STLVHAL, is honored to serve the veterans of this home by providing financial support for recreation and activities that enhance the quality of life of the Veterans who have served.
